This series of vases is a special collaboration that combines Sandy Holata Diehl’s fused glass pieces with a hot glass roll-up technique.

First, Sandy makes a fused glass plate by covering real, dried leaves with glass powder and firing it in the kiln for 18 hours. Next, the plate is pre-heated in an annealer until it is soft and flexible. Finally, with Christian James and Dave Mummey in the hot shop, the team wraps the fused glass piece around the outside of a clear hot glass bubble to form a vessel.

Sandy loves to experiment with different styles of glass backgrounds and leaf types.

This vase is approximately 6.5 inches tall x 4.5 inches in diameter, weighs 2 lbs. 3 oz.
