Polly and Chas Gilmore began blowing glass nine years ago at Hale Farm Village in Bath, Ohio with John Boyett and Mike Zelenka.
Polly, primarily a fiber artist, enjoys exploring surface color and texture in her glass. Keeping the glass thicker allows her to indulge her need for a more sculptural sense in the work. She and her husband Chas are usually partners, often working at Akron Glass Works during Saturday night demos.
Chas has an engineering background and began glassblowing because of a fascination with the creative technology. He particularly enjoys exploring mold-blown techniques, constantly striving for the perfect "square cylinder".
